A live performance by Billy Currington at the Country Music Awards graced the occasion. The song Billy Currington performed live was nominated for the single of the year, song of the year and video of the year. However, Jamey Johnson grabbed the award whereas Billy Currington and Zac Brown lost.
35-year-old American country music artist William Matthew (Billy) Currington along with another Georgian music artist Zac Brown was also among the nominees for the ‘single of the year,’ ‘song of the year’ and ‘video of the year’ awards. The occasion was Country Music Awards Nashville and the day was Tuesday November 11, 2009.
The news has already spread all over the United States that the star of the last night was 19-year-old Taylor Swift for she became the youngest one to lift the ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award alongside awards for all four nominations she was listed in. It took a decade for another female solo artist to grab the award after Shania Twain, who did so in 1999.
Two of the Georgian female nominees were victorious whereas both the male countrymen couldn’t make it to wining line. Sugarland and lady Antebellum won in their categories while Billy Currington and Zac Brown lost to Jamey Johnson. For the third time in a row, Sugarland also won vocal duo of the year award and later performed with Jennifer Nettles on “Keep You.”
Then it was time for Rincon (Georgia) born William Matthew (Billy) Currington to play a version of famous title “People are Crazy” live, one of Billy’s favorite and also No. 1 hit. It was the same song that was nominated for above mentioned categories and eventually lost.
