Carlos Dunlap ended up arrested on the charges DUI, by the Gainesville Police on Dec. 1, at 3:25 a.m. His arrest caused Carlos Dunlap an indefinite suspension as well. Urban Meyer the coach was stunned on the untimely action with a crunch game on the horizon on Saturday against No. 2 Alabama.
It was 25th occasion when a Florida Gator player faced legal problems during the tenure of Mr. Urban Meyer as their head football coach for the Florida University! This time it was one of their key players that also happen to be the considered top 2010 NFL Draft prospect from North Charleston (South Carolina), Carlos Dunlap.
According to Lt. Keith Kameg Gainesville Police Department spokesman, on December 1, 2009 in the early hours of Tuesday morning at around 3:25 a.m. the starting defensive end of Florida Gators was arrested near campus. He was booked and later released on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
He was found asleep on the wheel while his 2000 Chrysler was at a complete halt and the police noticed the vehicle when it didn’t move on despite many green-light traffic signals. The vehicle was found at the 34 the street 200 block Southwest, the spokesman added. An officer had to park the vehicle aside and turn it off since the footballer failed to regain senses despite many loud knockings on the window glass.
Following many apparent sings of impairment such as bloodshot eyes, difficulty in conveying basic information alongside very obvious smell of alcohol, Dunlap was offered sobriety and breathe test. However, he was booked since he didn’t ‘cooperate,’ police report continued to explain.
His arrest led the Florida coach Urban Meyer to make an announcement on Tuesday evening stating an indefinite suspension is what Dunlap deserves; thus the team will be without Carlos Dunlap for the No. 1 Gators against No. 2 Alabama. The game is scheduled for Saturday SEC Championship, in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome. The coach described the incident as stunning and declared it a poor decision on part of Dunlap.
