The Working of Plant Machinery
From the structure of a cell it becomes evident how best this immensely small and tiny bit of protoplasm is designed to perform the various phenomena attributed to life. With suitable devices, this wonderful living “machine” can be observed to operate with faithful co-ordination of its parts. Various such “machines” are engaged in the “factory” of a plant in producing several types of useful material, such as, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and other organic compounds that are required for the maintenance of life in both plants and animals.
