Have you ever seen or even heard about 50 cm Shark, Cookie-cutters? The Cookie-cutter shark has no specific area to live but mostly it lives in deep waters. It has been found at depths of about 1,000 m (3,300 ft). The fish is also known as Cigar or Luminous shark. It’s among a very rare species therefore, very rarely seen.
Cookie-cutters are tiny kind of fish as mentioned above, about 50 cm (20 inches). It has a cigar like body, with relatively large eyes with green pupils. She’s got somewhat pretty fleshy lips. Her lower jaw consists of very many visible or prominent teeth whereas the upper jaw has got smaller ones. The fish has got two tiny dorsal wings attached near her tail for the purpose of moving, changing directions etc.
God has gifted this little creature with a pale, green-blue lower abdomen that glows and thus, matches with sea water and the background light coming from the surface during the day light. It gives it a perfect camouflage among the others around. It has got another spot on her body which turns black and the other fish could only see that spot. They consider it as a smaller fish thus try to eat it out. Result is different; they are eaten out by Cookie-cutters instead.
The cookie-cutter shark is called so as they remove small circular plugs (like cookie cutters) of flesh or skin from cetaceans or large fish. It is quite phenomenal. They attach themselves to their prey with the help of their large enough lips, encircle or rotate their bodies in such a synchronized manner that the out come is a piece of flesh or skin, just like one of a cookie cutter.
