Four New Yorkers arrested. All students of Hofstra University named Felipe, Rondell Bedward and Jesus Ortiz. Aged between 19 to 25 years, accused of charges, “Gang Rape.” A bail set of $500,000 each. All the media grabbed their share of the sensational crime news. The ‘rapists’ spent over 22 hours in jail. All this happened on Sunday, September 13, 2009.

Then what next? The whole accused story of forcible gang rape decanted to be a ‘Consensual Sex.’ Resultantly, all the four youngsters were released by court order and they started living happily ever after! Sounds good, doesn’t it?

A Hofstra University student Danmell Ndonye was able to clutch the attention and the sympathies of whole world on Sunday Sept. 13, when the news hit the wire that a helpless 18-year-old female student becomes the victim of the brutality of four fellowmen inside the university premises campus dormitory restroom during the early hours of the morning.

As per the situation demand, all the four students were arrested on charges of first degree rape and were thrown into the jail.

Danmell accused that at a frat party on Sunday morning (3 am), one of the boys snatched her cell phone and when she followed him into his room the other guys also followed and later after tying her up into a bathroom stall, all 5 of them raped her one after another, to which she claimed resisted. Two of them denied having sex with her whereas the 5th person was not named till the end.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice released a late statement on Wednesday (16th Sept.) that reads law enforcement officials were informed by the woman that it was not a rape rather consensual sex. Therefore, Robert Bruno, the Nassau County Judge, dismissed all the charges against the accused and released them.

The youngsters claim that it was her who would be charged and sent to the jail in fact.
