Three of the victims died off their wrong landings on the building floor when they jumped in panic out of windows of multi-story commercial complex.
It was really sad to learn that a fire that broke out following short-circuiting on the 7th floor of extremely busy commercial complex caused chaos and panic among the occupants and in order to save their lives; dozens of them ended up severely injured. Carlton Towers where there are several apartments of various businesses was filled up with people at the time of incident.
The officials of Manipal Hospital described that three among the dead were those that couldn’t manage to land safely and died off fatal injuries they sustained. The rest of the six victims died due to asphyxiation and severe burns as they were trapped inside the burning sections of the building. Though they manage to escape the scene but couldn’t make it in the end and subsequently died.
According to the latest updates, the firefighters were finally able to control the fire after a massive struggle and it took them more than two hours to completely evacuate the structure. 22 two out of 70 persons injured in the sad incident, are reported in critical condition and under treatment. The sources informed the media that they are kept in Intensive Care Unit while the others are taken care of in the casualty wards.
It has also been learned that the fire started off from the lift service cable and it didn’t much time to spread through the ducts and immediately the clouds of thick black smoke engulfed the whole 7-story building. The eyewitnesses confirmed that it was smoke that spread the panic among the occupants of the building, more than fire thus everyone just rushed out of the building.
