After 30 years of marriage, Frank McCourt and Jamie McCourt have separated. Sole owner of the Dodgers Frank McCourt and Chief Executive Jamie McCourt’s separation has put the Los Angeles Dodgers’ career on the stake. Frank McCourt owns Los Angeles Dodgers since 2004. The couple considers the matter private, however.

A famous couple that was running a family business as owners has separated at a time when their personal and private family affairs are likely to affect the business a great deal. Frank McCourt, who was a real estate developer prior to purchasing a controlling interest of the Los Angeles Dodgers, acquired the business from Fox Entertainment Group (Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation owned) in the year 2004 worth $430 million. His wife Jamie McCourt was the Vice Chairman as well as the president till October 14, 2009. The couple’s son Drew McCourt is also in the family business and serves as director marketing.

Yahoo Sports Website claimed that both Frank and Jamie are considering it as a purely personal and private affair that has nothing to do with the business until their legal divorce and besides, they don’t wish any public statements over the issue as yet. However, the status of their team Dodgers’ ownership has now got a question mark. With Dodgers’ crunch series against Philadelphia Phillies in sight, the timing of such an announcement is being criticized.

The Dodgers would love to further improve their winning track especially after their recent first-ever back-to-back wins in the division championships as it happened so in 31 long years. Something was in the air already since the couple used to mind their own business for quite some time now. It has been learnt through Frank McCourt’s attorney Marshall Grossman that the divorce has not been filed yet.
