Born on the first of March on a sunny afternoon in the annum 1944, if you asked me how old is Roger Daltrey the answer would be sixty-six years, eleven months and twenty two days old. Though raised in the Acton region of London, Daltrey was born in Hammersmith, a bustling location.
Daltrey has worked in a multitude of fields concerning performance arts. He has played many roles in films, dramas and theatrical events. His early years were spent in the suburbs with his working class family. Though his mother was told that she did not possess the ability to bear children due to losing a kidney, she gave birth to Roger while being under siege from enemy fighter jets.
Just at an early age of 3, Daltrey had managed to put himself in trouble, giving himself a stomach ulcer at the age of five after swallowing a corrosion infected nail. Getting his hands on his first ever Epiphone in 1959 could have brought out the more rebellious side in him as he got expelled from school soon after. What had seemed like a childhood dream soon became a reality when ‘The Detours,’ a teenage phenomenon was re-grouped again.
His friend Townshend says it all in his autobiography when he writes that before Elvis Presley came around Roger was an intelligent student but soon after the introduction of ’The King’ he transformed into a Rock fiend.
His hit singles list does the job in showing his skills as a vocalist. With singles like “Giving It All Away” and “I’m Free” reaching the fifth and the thirteenth place respectively, Roger was indeed well endowed with a good taste of music.
