James Sanborn

James Sanborn, an American sculptor who got a number of awards for his great work, was born 1945. James Sanborn is from Washington, D.C. The father of James Sanborn was a print maker who worked as the Director of Exhibitions for almost 30 years at Library of Congress, while the mother of James Sanborn was photo researcher and pianist.

At Oxford University, James Sanborn studied archaeology, and from Randolph-Macon College, he earned Bachelor of Arts degree in paleontology, social anthropology and fine arts in the year 1968. And from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he earned the degree of Master of Fine Arts in sculpture in the year 1971.

James Sanborn is best known for creating the sculpture “Kryptos” which was installed at CIA Headquarters in the year 1990. In the year 1997, he created another sculpture “Cyrillic Projector” which has been installed at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

James Sanborn has created sculptures for “National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration,” “Massachusetts Institute of Technology” and “Central Intelligence Agency”.
