James “Jimmy” Conway, the fictional character was played by Robert De Niro in the film “Goodfellas” released in 1990. In the official records, “Miss Conway” has identified as the mother of gangster Jimmy Burke.

Kathy Burke, the daughter of Jimmy Burke demanded $100,000 for using the name of Jimmy Burke by the production company, hence, the character name was changed as Conway. The character Conway earned the nickname “Jimmy the Gent.”

Robert De Niro won the New York Film Critics Award for his performance as Conway in this reality based film “Goodfellas” and this character is remembered as the best character by Robert De Niro. He was also nominated for a BAFTA for his performance.

Describing the reality, The Big Irishman “Jimmy Burke” died due to lung cancer in the prison on April 13, 1996.
