Jorge Cantu

Jorge Cantu has been traded from Marlins to Rangers and two players Evan Reed the AA right handed pitcher and Omar Poveda will move in the opposite direction. The deal was completed on Thursday and the salary of Cantu that is 2.2 million dollars remaining will be paid by both teams.

Rangers have now got a player who they can play in different positions in different situations. His most likely position is first base but he can also fill the position of inured player Ian Kinsler who plays at 2nd base.

Jon Daniels the GM of Rangers told that the deal was good as they were after a right hander who could play at 1st base and they got that man in Jorge. He is expected to join his new team on Friday in Anaheim.

Jorge said that it is a huge opportunity for him and the team players are playing exceptionally well and he was thrilled to join them and play with them. Jorge would have taken a sigh of relief because his future has been finalized before the end of the trade deadline. He said that it is very hard to leave Marlins but he has to.

He has now set his sights on Texas Rangers and to help his team win the division in which they are on the top. He told that it always feels good to go in a new team and play for them. He thinks that there is still some time left in the season to showcase his talent.
