The appointment of a lesbian Bishop Mary Glasspool brings a new crisis for the Anglican Church. Selection of Mary Glsspool is feared to fasten the process of rupture in the empathy. 55-year-old Canon Mary Glasspool is elected for Diocese of Los Angeles, being second gay bishop after Gene Robinson.

Since she’s not shy to accept it openly that she’s a gay, her appointment as an assistant diocese bishop for Los Angeles has become the major concern for Anglican Church authorities worldwide. They consider it at the Anglican Church that with the appointment of Canon Mary Glasspool, the communion process would get going more rapidly.

First it was the appointment of Gay Bishop Gene Robinson in the year 2003 that flared up the things and proved to be an upheaval in the communion and now the global Anglican fellowship had to welcome yet another one.

There were two subsequent statements by Dr. Rowan Williams the Canterbury Archbishop and Rev Rod Thomas a Reform leader & General Synod member, respectively. Both the senior campaigners emphasized that the election of an assistant bishop that’s an alleged gay, will not only raise very serious questions not only in the United States alone but for the entire Anglican Churches.

They further elaborated that her election will also have its impact on the Episcopal Church and the place it has in the Anglican Communion all together due to its serious implications. Rev Rod Thomas was of the opinion that a rupture is to be anticipated beyond doubts.

Canon Mary Glasspool has candidly admitted about her being a lesbian and she also disclosed that she and Becki Sander use to live together as ‘partners’ since 1988. It seems that Mary’s appointment is a ‘living threat’ for the fragile unity of the church then.
