Mirai Nagasu

16-year-old Mirai Nagasu was beaten by Rachael Elizabeth Flatt and ended up Second at U.S. Women’s Figure Skating Championships 2010. Both the teens were impressive in performance on Saturday night and though some hoped Mirai Aileen Nagasu to win but eventually the committee declared Rachael deserved to grab the first spot.

Her opponent for Mirai in the championship 17-year-old Rachael Elizabeth Flatt has already won the title of World Junior Champion during the year 2008 whereas she also achieved two silver medals in 2008 and 2009, respectively. The World’s No. 9 in rank according to the December 2009 ratings, Rachael however, had tough time at the hands of a year younger Mirai.

American figure skater Mirai Aileen Nagasu on the other hand is the U.S. National Champion 2008 while she was the winner of Junior Grand Prix Final in the years of 2007 and 2008, respectively. Though she has started 2010 as a silver medalist by grabbing the second spot the other night, she still qualifies for the British Columbia (Vancouver) championship in February this year.

Both the winners have equal chance of winning a gold medal at February outing in the middle of next month. The competition on Saturday night proved to be a real tough one since the other figure skaters such as Ashley Wagner and Sasha Cohen also came in close ties towards the end of 2010 Women’s Figure Skating Championships.

Mirai Aileen Nagasu will definitely have her chance to prove her skills at the Winter Olympics 2010 since she meets her Saturday night rival again. She surely seemed to be a winner to many last night with her extremely impressive performance before a large crowd therefore; the battle of bringing home a gold medal for their country would be interesting to watch next month.
