Pancreatic Cancer and Soda

The latest study shows that pancreatic cancer and soda have a co-relation. It has been noted during the studies that having soda doubles the risk of pancreatic cancer with consuming as low amount of soda as two times in a week. However, this correlation is only limited to soda and does not includes other drinks such as sugar-free drinks and juices which shows that the root cause may be the sugar present in the sodas.

If the human digestive system is studied in this context, we may observe the role of pancreas in this process. The pancreas has the task to stabilize the level of sugar in a human body. The more the sugar is consumed the more the pancreas has to work. The over-worked pancreas thus leads to increased production of insulin which in turn may result in development of cancer cells. This mechanism may explain the correlation between pancreatic cancer and soda.

However, the study on the link between pancreatic cancer and soda has not been conclusive. There may be other factors that contribute to the development of pancreatic cancer besides soda such as smoking and high sugar intake in other forms. It has been noted that those who have a high intake of soda also tend to eat more, smoke or have high intake of red meat.

Though the relation between pancreatic cancer and soda may not be conclusive yet it is being suggested by researchers as well as medical practitioners that the soda intake must be reduced for better health results.
