Astounding snowfall totals for New Jersey alongside other East Coast areas are reported. A state of emergency continues to prevail in New Jersey and many other major states of the country since the blizzard continues to shower more snow. Snow accumulation totals are reportedly huge this year.
Inches of snow would be seen in vast areas of East Coast as a result of a worst snowstorm of the year just before Christmas that seems to have confined the people in the shelter of their homes. The snow peaked trees and streetlamps present a very gloomy picture all around the areas where a state of emergency continues to go on.
In open places, the snow is up the knees and many of the states have received snowfall ranging from 18” to 24” so far. The snow accumulation totals for the Long Island (New York) vicinity are high too. According to the CNN, though many of the major airports have become operative again yet the situation is not very encouraging in most of the other East Coast areas.
As far as the Long Island Railroad is concerned, there was a very limited service reported and many of their branches were forced to suspend their services due to enormous amount of snow. Snowfall totals for Medford New Jersey reveal that at least 24” snow was recorded in this area alone. According to the National Weather Bureau it is likely that New York City may encounter more snowfall whereas already around 20 inches of snow is piled up in the area.
With no signs of sun over the whole weekend and snow still falling, it seems to be a White Christmas this year and many shoppers are still awaiting their tern especially in the areas such as Delaware, PA or Maryland where there’s more disastrous situation since Friday. Neither the air traffic is available nor are the subways or high-speed rails operating in calamity hit areas.
