Directed by Osamu Dezaki and written by Takeshi Narumi, the movie Sword for Truth is an action packed anime with a run time of one hour. The review about the Sword for Truth is generally of the view that more could be done with the storyline of the anime. The animation which was released on DVD is about this samurai who doesn’t have a master, his name is Shurannosuke Sakaki and he is a ruthless killer with his katana that zips across the screen for the better half of the movie.

In the Sword for Truth, the hero Sakaki is hired by one of the clans to rescue a princess who has been kidnapped by a ninja known as the Seki Ninja. The Nakura clan is impressed by the swordsmanship of Sakaki and avail his services to rescue the princess who in called Mayu.

The story is a classic case of the uncontrollable hero with a pride who is sought to bring back the honor of the Shogunate by retrieving the princess who is being kept by the evil villain. The movie is not suitable for children as it contains a lot of gore, nudity and use of drugs. Many compare it to the movie “Ninja Scroll,” and say that it is nothing more than a bad copy of it.

The movie was produced by Naoko Takahashi, Takeshi Tamiya, Hiroshi Matsuzono, Noriaki Ikeda and Satoshi Dezaki. The people who saw it say that there is really no story or character development in the movie and it makes for a bad watch because of that.
