Patriot linebacker, Tedy Bruschi’s retirement is likely to come today. Tedy Bruschi suffered a stroke that could have ended his career in 2005 but he fought back and returned to the arena just after 8 months. A 13-years-long career is finally over.
His full name is Tedy Lacap Bruschi and he was born on June 9, 1973 in San Francisco (California). Patriots recognized his talent and absorbed the young energetic footballer in NFL draft 3rd round (25th Pick) in 1996. His skill and natural ability of interception and reaching the end zone with amazing ease has been his trademark. It was Tedy without whom the Patriots would ever gain a 24-21 Super Bowl win over Philadelphia Eagles. This was their 3rd title in 4 years.
February 2005 brought the star footballer a bad news when at the peak of his career, Tedy suffered with symptoms like temporary numbness, blurred vision and headaches. He suffered a mild stroke and was hospitalized. Resultantly, he was diagnosed a broken blood vessel the head. He had a partial paralysis but luckily enough, recovered from it very soon. He remained under treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Quite remarkable of him that Tedy Bruschi, 36-years-old New England Patriot’s linebacker was still holding himself fully composed until last night whereby the news broke in about his retirement. To be very honest and bit realistic, an NFL player’s capabilities to carry on such an exhausting and demanding game in such health condition, really have a question mark.
But believe it or not, Bruschi made it practically possible and after spending good enough time on rehabbing, he appeared on the scene again and overall he holds plenty of impressive records. He has appeared in 5 Super Bowls i.e. 2nd most in the history of NFL and he’s also got 3 rings.
No official news about his retirement reached yet except short before Sunday Night Football’s broadcast Al Michaels and Rodney Harrison both stated Bruschi retiring. It is speculated that Patriots has imposed retirement on Bruschi so its better to wait for the post-news-conference results, called by the Patriots at 10:45 today.
