Willie Taggart

The Western Kentucky University has engaged Willie Taggart as its new head football coach. Willie Taggart will join in as the on going season ends. He will supplant David Elson who has been terminated for almost two weeks but has accepted to continue till the end of the season. The Hilltoppers stand at 0-10, with 0-6 as scores of their first full-season being a member of Sun Belt Conference.

Willie is the one who has served as standout quarterback, setting eleven school records in the name of Western Kentucky with in the transition of merely 1995 to 1998. He is also one of the few players who have his jersey retired; collectively he has coached and played at western Kentucky for almost a decade just before he joined Cardinal. Now Taggart takes office of a program that has already lost 18 games straight. Apart of all it is the longest loosing spell in the history of the school since last 91 years.

For Hilltoppers the wins came few and far between, as they had been regarded as a reclassifying institution during 2007-08. They have been 1-24 against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of schools during the three latest seasons, and they had their last win over Murray State on the 20th September-2008.

Taggart was currently in his consecutive third season serving as running backs special coach at Stanford. He has already worked as an assistant coach with Western Kentucky football team for 8 seasons during 1999 and 2006.He also performed the role of a coordinator offensively at the time when Hilltoppers managed to capture the national championship in 2002, NCAA Division I-AA.
